What’s a Chuck Lorre Vanity Card? You know those boxes of text at the end of Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, Dharma & Greg, Mike & Molly & probably a few others I’m not aware of or have forgotten. The only way to really read them WAS to pause the TiVo and then force the pause bar thing away. Now thanks to the site you can read them all quite easily!

E Online is reporting that Conan O’Brien has released a statement on the NBC scheduling mess:

I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it…but I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction

Good for him. NBC are being real asshats here…and Jay Leno should have manned up and said NO to the whole idea of pushing the show back 30 minutes. I hope Conan ultimately tells NBC to stick it. And I guess he kinda just did. And I love how he ended the whole thing:

Some of you may have read about Eliza Dushku talking about how she bow hunts Elk and Deer at this years San Diego ComiCon. Well she just appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel show and she talked about it again and even demonstrated her prowess with the bow live!

Dushku’s remarks have angered People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) activists, who insist the actress should put down her bow and stop hunting.

I LOVE IT!

I finally got a chance to see Marvel’s new Incredible Hulk movie. It was great. Finally we can all forget about the mediocre at best Ang Lee Hulk movie from 2003. This one stars Edward Norton as Banner and the always delightful Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. Edward Norton is quite convincing in a restrained but intense performance that does remind me a bit of the Bill Bixby TV version (and that’s NOT a bad thing).

Liv Tyler is fantastic in pretty much everything I’ve ever seen her in and this is no exception.

The Hulk himself is all CGI…and it WORKS. Early trailers had a lot of folks (myself included) a little worried that it looked too much like CGI. It appears the rumors about them going back over it all and subtly altering the skin tones and such were correct as the final footage is fabulous. They even got the Hulk’s size correct. Just look at this:

PERFECT! Now THAT’s the Hulk! The Hulk is NOT a 20 foot Mighty Joe Young as the Ang Lee version seemed to suggest in some scenes.

And YES you DO finally get to hear the Hulk say: “HULK SMASH!”

As great as the Hulk footage and battles are the love story aspect of Betty and Bruce is not neglected either. The scene where they embrace in the rain is particularly touching and memorable.

This Hulk movie has it all and I really couldn’t be happier with it. There are even a few unexpected nods to the Hulk TV series:
-the piano refrain bits in the soundtrack
-Bill Bixby in footage from Eddie’s Father
-Lou Ferrigno as a security guard (didn’t he do that in the Ang Lee one too?)

There is a bit at the end just before the credits roll (which I won’t reveal here for the few unspoiled) that further builds upon the Marvel Film Universe connecting this movie with another Marvel hit (not too vague am ?). Love it.

Lastly I should mention that bit at the very beginning of all these Marvel Movies where the animation flips through some comic book pages –for a lifelong Marvel fanatic like me that is very nearly a religious experience. This is a GREAT time to be a Marvel fan!

I must say (though it pains me to admit this) they DO make some compelling arguments over there!

If you missed the finale of American Idol Season 7 you REALLY missed a GREAT performance by David Cook. He sang lead and played guitar with the hairy Rock & Blues legends and it SMOLDERED. I would say this live version actually out did the original studio track! It was fantastic. I was already a big fan of David Cook after he made me LOVE not only a Michael Jackson tune (Billie Jean) but a Lionel Richie song (Hello)! But after this scorching performance he now has a huge amount of rock credibility with me and I will be buying his CD ASAP.

Truly great stuff. This proves American Idol can still deliver.

Joss Whedon’s upcoming Dollhouse show is getting some coverage now. Newsarama’s Blog@ had this. Their piece prompted me to Google for more. Here is some linkage I found:

It was a fun episode but I really think Marvel & NBC should have had Stan Lee play the banker instead of him being revealed as a creepy clown. That would have been great!
