I REALLY want to like Sarah Palin. Actually I DO like her. But at the same time I’m embarrassed by her and FOR HER. As a conservative leaning Libertarian I’m embarrassed by her awkward and down right terrible grammar. What’s the deal with “ALSO & TOO” ? REALLY????? We need to say both “ALSO and TOO”??? When she first came on the scene I felt sorry for her. She seemed kind of dumped out there in front of the cameras with little to no prep and the attacks from the left were vicious and uncalled for. So this is just really unfortunate that Fox News decided to make her a “pundit”. This is NOT HELPING us. The more the poor woman speaks the less intelligent she appears and by association the less intelligent WE appear. I do NOT mean this as an attack -I really don’t. This is just a little heart-felt advice from your friendly neighborhood WebHobbit. I just wish she would stop talking. That really sums it up for me. Sarah -if you see a camera -STOP TALKING. Don’t give interviews and stop trying to be a “Pundit”. I don’t know what more to say. I feel kind of scummy for even posting this.

Obama wants to make the expired “Assault Weapons” ban alive again and permanent:

“Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.”

Vote Early for Bob Barr!

Well I took advantage of the early voting that’s available at many of the public libraries around here and voted yesterday afternoon. I voted for the only common sense choice -Libertarian candidate Bob Barr.

It is said that insanity is repeating the same thing over and over & expecting different results. Clearly THAT concept applies to the current mess we are in politically and certainly economically. It’s time to try something truly different. It’s time to IGNORE the Democrats and the Republicans and vote for REAL CHANGE.

Eliza the Deer Slayer!

Some of you may have read about Eliza Dushku talking about how she bow hunts Elk and Deer at this years San Diego ComiCon. Well she just appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel show and she talked about it again and even demonstrated her prowess with the bow live!

Open Letter to Rush, Sean & Laura

This is an open letter to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity & Laura Ingraham. Now I’m not delusional enough to think any of the three would read my little blog so I will also copy and paste most of this to emails which they may or may not read. Perhaps one of their staff might? Either way the rant needs to be ranted.

I am totally disgusted and dismayed that all of the Big Three conservative talk leaders are to one degree or another defending/supporting the RINO John McCain. To be fair I should point out that Rush does this the least of the three & Hannity does this the MOST. It’s REALLY sick how much Hannity does it. All three of these conservative icons were some of the harshest critics of McCain and rightly so. McCain is NOT a Conservative. McCain is NOT our friend. McCain is NOT the answer for the country and is certainly NOT the answer for the Republican party. Rush, Sean and Laura were all against McCain’s awful amnesty bill and were certainly instrumental in it’s defeat. We all thank you for that. But just because the Republican party has turned it’s back on Conservatives and put up McCain as the nominee does NOT mean he is our “only hope”.

McCain is certainly NOT my “Only Hope”. I can’t vote for McCain and I won’t vote for McCain. It just isn’t going to happen. Perhaps America “needs” a Tax & Spend Liberal to win the Presidency??? Perhaps 4 years of that is the only thing that might bring the party and the country back to it’s senses??

In the meantime can we please STOP defending McCain at every turn?? He’s just NOT our guy. Thompson was our guy. Romney wasn’t really our guy either….but he was close enough. McCain isn’t even an option.

I will probably just “waste” my vote on Bob Barr. Better him than McCain.

Last weekend my Father-In-Law gave me a big stack of Silver-Age comics for my birthday. Among them was this odd gem from 1964. Apparently it’s fairly rare as it doesn’t seem to be listed anywhere in ComicBase. of course I DO plan to add it. Anyway I thought this was good timing falling into my hands during this awful election year. Is there some special meaning here for all of us?

Charlton Heston dies at 83

Sad news. Fantastic actor and great NRA president Charlton Heston died yesterday. He was 83 years old. Full story here:

He made over 100 movies in a career that spanned 60 years. He won an Oscar in 1960 for Ben-Hur. Heston was a Civil Rights activist in the 60′s. He even marched with Martin Luther King Jr.. He was a great American and a passionate supporter of gun rights. He will be missed.

Barack Obama -no friend of gun owners

A buddy of mine WAS a staunch Reagan conservative. In fact he was quite frankly the most conservative guy I ever knew until very recently. I may go as far as to say he sort of “showed me the way”. I was NEVER into politics at all until he started talking to me about a lot of the big issues. I don’t consider myself a 100% Republican really as I lean a little libertarian in some ways -mainly in the areas of censorship and the so-called war on drugs. But basically I am what is generally termed a Reagan Conservative. Anyway my buddy is now supporting Barack Obama in a HUGE way. Not just in the primaries but also the general Presidential election! For the record I plan to vote for Obama in the primaries -but for me this is simply to vote AGAINST Hillary. I cannot vote for Obama as President. I cannot support him for 3 reasons:

1) Taxes – Obama has lots of BIG plans for the federal government…tons of big projects including National Health care. These kinds of sprawling programs will require lots of money. Make no mistake anyone talking about programs like this WILL RAISE YOUR TAXES. This is what they mean by the term “tax and spend liberal”. My buddy says “he won’t raise my taxes, I don’t make enough”. A LOT of people would like to believe that & maybe in my friend’s case he won’t at least not at first. I just can’t trust a democrat NOT to soak the middle class. The middle class is the largest group. It’s a purse too attractive for them not to steal.

2) Nationalized Health care – I’m not in favor of this. Of course on the surface it SOUNDS good – “free health care for all!”. Someone will have to pay for it. And aside from the tax issues I have to ask the question: “Do you really WANT the Federal Government running the health care system?” Does this really sound like a good plan? The government can’t seem to handle Social Security so I don’t see why we should think to give them something as big and important as this.

3) Gun Rights – Barack Obama has been pretty quiet about his stance on the Second Amendment. In fact when I started to write this piece I searched all over barackobama.com. I figured I would go straight to the source. BUT it’s not really mentioned much at all beyond a few Obama supporters debating the issue amongst themselves.

Obama is very anti-gun. He favors banning ALL hand-guns as well as semi-auto rifles. He also is in favor of a Federal Ban on Concealed Carry licenses.

This is a deal-breaker for me and I believe it should be a deal-breaker for any freedom loving American who believes in the right of self-defense.
